Digital presence

Why a website alone is not a digital presence

18 August 2026·5 min read

Most businesses come to us asking for a website. It is the obvious first step, and it is rarely the whole answer. A website is one destination — but customers meet your business in a dozen places before they ever land on it.

A digital presence is the whole picture: the search result that appears when someone types your service and your city, the social profile they check to see whether you are still trading, the reviews, the content that answers the question they actually had, and the site that finally turns interest into an enquiry.

Where most presences leak

Outdated social profiles pointing at an old website. A Google Business Profile nobody has claimed. A contact form that quietly fails. Each leak is small on its own; together they cost you the enquiries you never hear about.

Fixing them is not glamorous work, but it is usually the cheapest growth available to a small business.

Build the system, not the page

Treat your website as the hub and everything else as spokes that point back to it. Content feeds social. Social feeds search. Search feeds the site. The site captures the enquiry and hands it to whatever system your team actually works in.

When those pieces are connected and documented, growth compounds instead of restarting every time you run a campaign.
